The scales shown in this image have been wetted slightly to give an idea of the grain / colour once finished.

London Plane or lacewood is pretty timber with an intricate grain texture and numerous large rays on the quarter-sawn boards. Colour varies from a light straw tone to Reddish-brown which matures to a brownish colour with age.

An easy wood to work which is fairly hard with a moderately coarse even texture and takes a good finish.
