Through the many, many years, Blackie Collins has designed so many knives, he's lost track of just how many. Numerous designs have been patented. Perhaps the area of design for which Blackie is most renowned is his pioneering and continuing work in assisted-opening mechanisms. Blackie, and Meyerco®, introduced the assisted-opening knife to the world years ago and Blackie's genius continues to be seen in his latest conceptions.

The all new A-OK utilizes Blackie's latest patented mechanism for an assisted opening folding knife. All previous mechanisms for this type knife rely on torsion or coil spring which is positioned beside the blade. The new A-OK uses a simple leaf spring which is directly in line with the blade and allows all knives using this mechanism to be much thinner than those using the old system.

The choice of handle materials is enhanced and a knife need be no thicker than its blade and a layer of any handle material strong enough to make a good pocket knife. This also allows Blackie to use almost any blade locking mechanism and for the latest models are going to use the tried and true locking-back style.
