Introducing the newest member of the Topo family from SOG, the Topo Meridian. This is the first view of topographic construction embodied into knife design. SOG's patent pending Topo construction creates a tactile outer layer using stepped ergonomics that is comfortable, novel, and functional. Spencer Frazer chief designer comments, "I am very excited about this new approach that we came up with. This skeletal robotic design compiled of anodized aircraft aluminum layers, steel liners and G10 texture is sure to be a trend setter." In fact the design and function of the Topo Meridian is such a trendsetter that the cutlery industry awarded the Topo Meridian the 2005 Blade Magazine American-Made Knife of the Year.

The SOG Topo Meridian Knives feature the S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) opening mechanism. Unlike an automatic knife, which is activated by a button mounted on the handle, the SOG S.A.T. opening mechanism only works when the operator manually begins to open the blade. With just a nudge of a thumb stud or blade kick, the S.A.T. takes over to propel the blade to the open position.
