This is a fine piece of handcraft made in the Swedish part of Lapland inspired by the traditional Sami style of coffee bag.

It is an ideal pouch for storing fire lighting materials or similar. It is a combination of being a piece of fine traditional handcraft, whilst the reindeer leather's qualities make it a superior leather for outdoor purposes being very durable whilst still being thin and very light weight.

The bag is made from 1.2 mm fully vegetable tanned reindeer leather from freely grazing reindeer in Lapland. Vegetable tanning gives the leather a natural water repelling effect and is better for the environment than chromium tanning.

Approx Dimensions: 23cm (9 inches) x 11cm (4.33 inches) x 6cm (2.36 inches).

The indigenous Sami people from Lapland traditionally used (and still use) leather bags made from their rendeer to store meat, coffee, salt and flour. For any trip outdoors this bag is therefore also an ideal size for brining meat, salt or coffee, however could also be used for all kinds of other purposes. Even though it has been made for outdoor use it is also a very nice collectable item to just enjoy in itself.
